Summary

(Downloadable Content) Your memories of the battle of Ostagar will haunt you for years to come. It laid waste to your order and claimed the lives of many great men and women, including the brash young King Cailan and your mentor, Duncan. Now, there are rumors that a fellow survivor of the battle has escaped from captivity and is seeking the Grey Wardens' help. The time has come for the Grey Wardens to make their return to Ostagar and exact their revenge upon the darkspawn. [Electronic Arts]

IGN

Return to Ostagar doesn't add anything revolutionary to the Dragon Age experience. You'll know exactly what you're in for from the moment you load it up. With that said, it's every bit as good as the content that came with the original game, and it gives the Warden a chance to tie up one of the campaign's loose ends.

To put it bluntly, Return to Ostagar is five dollars and will last you one or two hours. It poses no real challenge or overall benefit in experience and rewards. The best option would be to investigate the weapon and armor received, and see if it is worth the five dollars. However, for me, I can’t help but look around the corner at the expansion and see these upgrades as useless for my end-game characters.

GamePro

That we had to wait for the content for so long -- it suffered a delayed a couple weeks after its announced release date, and was subsequently pulled from Xbox Live when it did hit -- makes the quest taste even more bitter. Five dollars isn't a lot to drop on extra content, but when it's as bare as this it's hard to recommend to anyone who didn't shed a tear over Duncan's death.

GameCritics

It's not a terrible bargain and certainly not the outright robbery that some DLC can be at times, but Return to Ostagar can't compare with the quality of The Stone Prisoner or Warden's Keep DLC missions.

Eurogamer

Suffice to say, feeble half-baked offerings like this are a step in the wrong direction. Hopefully Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening will do a much better job next month.

Game Revolution

The loot isn't game-changing, the plot is bare-bones, and the story-building basically nonexistent. Unless you absolutely need to possess Cailan's sweet golden shoulderpads, stop your plans to Return to Ostagar and turn straight back.

Dynamic Echo gave it a7:
While Return to Ostagar is indeed very short, lasting at most half an hour if truth be told, it does add some new dialogue for every companion and contains some reasonable loot. It cannot compare to either of the two previously released DLCs but is still worth it for any fan wanting a little bit of extra content, especially at the very low price.
