Summary

[Playstation Network] Steel and Titanium contains two brand new multiplayer maps with new gameplay elements and strategic twists, sure to test even the most skilled players. The first map in the pack is Wasteland Bullet, and the action will take place on the bullet train that and transports goods and troops between Pyrrhus and the Wasteland. The game is a frenzied firefight to wrestle control of the train from the enemy and into the hands of your faction. With the train moving at full speed, players need to remain aware of the immediate environment as well as enemies - hitting an overhead obstacle at this speed will mean instant death. The second map, Vekta Cruiser, finds ISA troops boarding a vast ship with the goal to repel a force of assaulting Helghast troops while also protecting the cruiser itself from heavy Helghan fire. The action takes place entirely indoors in a frantic and claustrophobic battle where attackers lurk around every corner. [Playstation.com]

D+PAD Magazine

The quality of the two maps are clearly apparent in terms of their visual fidelity as well as their potential to stage some fantastic online dust ups. Regular players of the game online will buy the maps regardless of what we say here, but for those who don’t play as regularly as the more dedicated we’d still recommend it – if your pockets are deep enough, that is.

Gaming Age

All in all, I find it a little difficult to whole-heartedly recommend Steel & Titanium – it's only two maps, which is pretty expensive for $6, and KZ2's current multiplayer levels haven't lost their appeal yet... on the flipside, these maps are pretty damn fun.

This two new maps are great if you are a hardcore online Killzone 2 player, and are getting bored with the other maps. Six euro's isn't much for those guys, but not worth it if you aren't that hardcore fan!

Playstation Official Magazine UK

What you get here is good but leans a little towards the 'sucky' side of our value for money meter. [July 2009, p.108]

Steel & Titanium is a purchase to recommend or to avoid based on the type of user who will play it. Team work loses importance to prioritize the quickly and direct action, although this is not necessarily bad. The two locations included will provide the most spectacular moments in the online side of Killzone 2.

You may tire of it surprisingly fast and find yourself returning to the original set before long. [Issue#180, p.86]

Tyler H gave it a7:
Well, its just a two-pack multiplayer addition for $6.00. There pretty fun, but the two seem like maps that should have been in the game in the first place. Probably should have been a couple bucks cheaper. Wasteland Bullet is ok, but nothing amazing, moving trains is kinda cool. And Vekta Cuiser seems to irritate me alot for some reason, but not too badly to deter me from ever playing it. If you play online alot, probably get this for more depth, if not, your not missing out on anything amazing.
